Working Smarter Not Harder When Painting

When I first painted this, I was told that the roses looked cramped. And that the flower on the left didn’t look like a rose.

I stepped away from it for a few days. When I returned to it, I added a couple of brush strokes to make a loose petal off the side of the left rose. And it was approved as a realistic looking rose! I also got props on the water jar.

The lesson here: take breaks. It helps you work smarter, not harder. Same is true in my job. Taking the time to let your mind wander, to really look at the flower petals outside, to rest...it really does help you move quickly when you return to your work.
